Summer has come and gone………

October 13th, 2011

We had an amazing summer; met many new and interesting guests and also had guests from previous years coming back to spend a wonderful holiday at the Romantic Log Cabin!   As I took many pictures of sunsets during this past summer I thought I should share some with you! The last image on this page however, got sent to me by a lady that I haven’t even met yet! Her and her husband tried to book a weekend with us but the Romantic Log Cabin was booked already! She managed to find a place to stay nearby and sent me this image of  a glorious sunset over Lake Huron (Thank you)! Looking forward to meet you one day ;-)

Happy Spring! Yes it’s a late spring and wet but it will get better; it always does! We had a beautiful sunset over the lake tonight and I look forward to many more this summer!

Sleepovers are not just for kids!

February 20th, 2011

Who says sleepovers are just for kids?  My girlfriends and I had a fabulous time at the cottage; oh we laughed and laughed and we laughed some more!! We enjoyed an other gorgeous sunset and went for a little hike along the beach the next day even though it was bitterly cold!

More Winter…

February 2nd, 2011

Looking forward to a weekend at our cottage with 3 of my girlfriends! That should be fun! Lots of plans; what should we be doing? Snowshoeing, skiing, hiking or go for a swim at the Pinedale Inn in Grand Bend or maybe venture out with our cameras?

Brrrr

January 23rd, 2011

It’s January alright! Minus 20 Degrees! It is nice to sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy the gorgeous view over the frozen lake! What a romantic place this is!…

Spring at the Lake…

June 8th, 2010

The spring has been fabulous! It’s so nice to see the flowers growing and blooming. Summer is coming and some though Canadians (I assume) are swimming in Lake Huron already!

Spring has sprung!

March 14th, 2010

Spring is almost here! After a few blustery and wet days all the snow is almost gone! I do hope the squirrels left my over 300 planted tulip and crocus bulbs alone. Can’t wait to see the color festival! :-)

Spring is almost here.......

Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2010

Dear Romantic Log Cabin Friends,

Tom, the kids and I  want to wish everyone a happy, healthy 2010! We hope everybody had a great Holiday Season and is ready to start the New Year with great optimism! We’ve had a great year at the Romantic Log Cabin. We met new people and welcomed back many guests from previous years.
During this past year we noticed that more and more people book early and I would encourage you to do that as well. Several weeks of the summer 2010 are already booked. We hate to have to turn guests down! I also would like to mention that the Romantic Log Cabin is a cottage for all seasons. After all it is -The Most Romantic Spot Along Ontario’s West Coast- ! Today it is snowing and blowing…….just imagine, sitting in front of the fireplace with  a nice cup of tea, look outside and watch the dancing snowflakes….:-)

Have a safe winter!

Your Romantic Log Cabin Hosts,

Thomas and Vreni Beeler with family

“Christmassy Applepunch with Schwipps”

December 12th, 2009

This recipe is very yummy and perfect for the season!

You’ll need: 1 litre of “Fruittea” (or Orangetea), 1 litre of applecider, one or two cinnamon sticks, half a teaspoon of Allspice, 1-2 Tbsp. of Sugar (or more if you like).  Heat everything up (Crockpot works great for this). Add a few slices of apples, oranges and lemons and leave in for 10 min. Then take oranges and lemonslices out (so it doesn’t turn bitter).

Dip the rim of a mug in lemonjuice and then in a cinnamon/sugar mixture. Add some “Schwipps” (Spiced Rum) to the mug and fill with the hot applecider. Add a cinnamon stick and serve! Kids love this too but of course without the “Schwipps”! Cheers!
